There are four major airports in Iceland:
- Keflavík: Iceland‘s largest airport and its hub for international air travel with daily flights to destinations around the world.
- Reykjavík: the major hub for domestic air travel in Iceland.
- Akureyri: the main airport servicing northern Iceland. Primarily a domestic airport, flights to Greenland and Europe operate seasonally.
- Egilsstaðir: this airport services eastern Iceland for flights to Reykjavík
Iceland’s main carrier is Icelandair which offers passenger and cargo services to Europe and North America (USA and Canada). WOW air is a low-cost carrier that offers passenger services to Europe and the USA. Flight times to Europe are typically 2.5-5 hours and 5-6 hours to the east coast of North America.
Two Icelandic shipping companies, Eimskip and Samskip, operate cargo schedules to and from Iceland serving ports in North America, Scandinavia, UK, Europe and the Baltic. Shipping times are typically 3-4 days to Europe and 7-8 days to North America.
